The Fault in Our Stars Fun Facts!
i) The Fault in Our Stars is dedicated to a girl by the name of Esther Earl, who had the same type of cancer as hazel in the novel. However, despite their similar qualities, Hazel is not based off of Esther.
ii) When Green originally thought of Hazel, the character was not a vegetarian. The idea came to him when he was discussing the book with a friend and she (the friend) asked something a long the lines of "Of course Hazel's a vegetarian, right?" john green played it off as if hazel had been a vegetarian the whole time.
iii) John Green doesn't know what happens to Hazel in the end... He may not be an insufferable alcoholic, but John Green, at least in this aspect, does resemble Peter van Houten.
iv) "I do, Augustus, i do" (313) what do These last 5 words remind you of (Hint, think of wedding ceremonies) :D
v) TFIOS is based in Indianapolis not only because its familiar to Green, but also because it's a very typical American city, unlike Amsterdam, and both cities are canal cities!
